Dr. Earl Wurdell is a veterinarian providing ACL and Dental surgery throughout Ontario

He is pleased to offer veterinary dental surgery and endodontics as well surgical services for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in dogs and cats.

His service travels to veterinary clinics that wish to avoid referring their clients long distances to a boarded dentist or orthopedic surgeon. Clients can have surgery for their companions in a familiar place without missing a day or out of their busy lives. In most cases patients are admitted to the clinic in the morning and discharged home later in the afternoon.

ACL disease is a common cause of lameness in companion animals, and is a problem that, if not addressed with surgery, leads to long term pain, lameness and extensive osteoarthritis for our pets.

About Dr. Wurdell

Dr. Wurdell is a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and spent over 30 years in general practice. Over those years he developed a special interest in surgery and dentistry. Since ACL and dental problems are so prevalent, he recognized a need in his own practice to be able to treat his patients that in-house where surgery was more readily available to his clients without them needing to travel long distances to a referral surgeon.

Dr. Wurdell has spent time learning fundamentals of and practising dentistry; he has been performing more advanced dentistry such as endodontics for more than 25 years.

He has been performing ACL surgery for more than 20 years, and was trained in the TTA procedure in 2012. In fact, the first TTA patient of Dr. Wurdell was his own Golden Retriever Maggie who tore her ACL in 2012 at 16 years of age and went on to hike and swim for 2 more healthy years.

He left general practice in 2020 and now practices exclusively dentistry and ACL surgery. Dr. Wurdell does not work out of a single facility, but moves about Ontario. He is not a board-certified surgeon or dentist, but he is trained, equipped and experienced.
